Bhavani started performing at the age of twelve, as a Dance & Drama Performer thereafter no turning back for him. He had travelled throughout India and was also chosen to travel to Himachal Pradesh and Manipur for interstate cultural exchange programme organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture, Karnataka 1986. He went to Singapore in 1987, beginning his International career to perform for the Singapore Fine Arts and Singapore Asian TV. In 1990 he toured with Tribhang, a group of six artists including dancers and musicians to Europe and UK. His competent as a Mridangam artist was recognised by Late Mr Mathoor Krishna Murthy, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London – sooner Bhavani was invited to join the teaching and performing faculty of Indian Music and Dance.
Bhavani carved out a niche for himself as a leading percussionist in the United Kingdom. Though a staunch stickler to time, honoured and tested traditions, Bhavani has an open mind and is always receptive to new ideas. He actively associates himself with experimental works in collaboration with the votaries of Western Music. He worked with the popular pop group MASSIVE ATTACK
